Dr. Carla Sutton Moore graduated from the College of Charleston with a B.S. in Psychology; earned a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Clark Atlanta University; an Ed.S. at Georgia State University in Professional Counseling; and a PhD in Counseling Psychology at the University of Georgia. She completed her Postdoctoral Fellowships at Emory University School of Medicine-Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science, and the City of Atlanta (COA) Psychological Services and Employee Assistance Program. Throughout her graduate studies she continued working in several mental health settings, and she was also a professional cheerleader for the Georgia Force and the Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders.

Dr. Moore has worked in mental health for over 22 years in various settings including: juvenile court mental health clinic, residential treatment facility, managed care, private practice, church organizations and local government agencies. Currently, Dr. Moore is the Founder and Clinical Director of Moore to Life Counseling and Consulting, LLC. In this role, she consults with several Atlanta metro public safety departments regarding prevention, resilience, mental health wellness, and wellness checks and evaluations. She also currently enjoys her work on the leadership team at Georgia Tech Counseling Center as the Assistant Director of Outreach and serving as the liaison to GTPD. Over the years her work include: trainings, crisis intervention/critical incident responses, psychological and mental health assessments, trauma groups and individual counseling to officers and firefighters, and consultation with command staff to assist in the development of policy and standard operation procedures/guidelines specific to mental health. Previously, Dr. Moore was the Clinical Services Coordinator for COA Psychological Services and Employee Assistance Program, providing counseling and support to City employees, including Atlanta Police, Fire and Rescue, and Dept. of Corrections.

She is a Board member of the Georgia Psychological Foundation, and also on the Advisory Board of the Fire Service Psychology Association. She participates in conferences with the Society for Criminal and Police Psychology. She is a member of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, Association of Black Psychologists, IACP Police Psychological Services Section, and serves as APA-Division 18, Police and Public Safety Psychology section Secretary-Treasurer. Dr. Moore research interests include trauma, wellness and resilience, culturally relevant and evidence-based practices in treatment for police and fire service members; especially issues and implications of being a law enforcement officer, military personnel, and firefighter/fire service member that identify as Black and those that are from marginalized and underrepresented communities. Dr. Moore has conducted research and presented at several conferences attended by members of IACP and IAFC on issues specific to mental health and first responders.

Dr. Moore is married and has two children. She enjoys traveling, exercising, singing, dancing, and trying new foods. Her strong faith, and her connection with family and community keeps her grounded and resilient.
