Chief Shortnacy has more than 30 years law enforcement experience. He retired in July of 2023 after serving 23 years as police chief. Chief Shortnacy also served as interim city manager for a brief time, and as a result has a unique understanding of municipal government. He has sat on a variety of boards and commissions throughout his career and has accumulated a tremendous amount of experience. He also has experience working cooperatively with both state and federal elected officials. He successfully lobbied the State for funding for a new police facility that opened for operation in September of 2019.
