This session will explore the methods and options successfully utilized by many departments to plan and build a functional, durable, low-maintenance facility without “busting the budget”. How to Afford a 75-Year Facility will explore several ways in which you can design and build a facility that is as maintenance-free and long lasting as possible. We will look in-depth at various design considerations for the facility including site components, exterior building components, and interior building components, while also considering how you can plan a flexible design for future station growth. Finally, we will discuss building systems and materials that can stand the heavy use and abuse of First Responders.
