Brent received his Associate Science Degree in Fire Science after completing Crafton Hills Fire Academy in 1997. He was selected as a Firefighter in the CAL FIRE/Riverside Unit in May 1998. Over the past twenty-six years, Brent has worked in several areas of the fire service, including Aviation (fixed and rotary wing), Wildland, City Fire Protection, Hand Crew Programs, FEMA CATF 6, as well as Command and Control. Brent has been a California State Fire Marshal instructor in fire science for two community colleges. In 2011, he was appointed as a Principal Member to the NFPA Technical Committee on Fire Service Training, currently revising NFPA 1400 and three other NFPA documents. Brent is a Battalion Chief for CAL FIRE/Riverside Unit at the Los Piños Fire Center.
