Eric has 20 years’ experience in the fire service, 17 with the City of Vancouver, BC. He led the operations and training for Canada Task Force 1 heavy urban search and rescue. He was an instructor with the Justice Institute of BC (JIBC), leading the development and delivery of technical rescue programs and instructing in the recruit training program.
Eric established Progressive Fire Solutions Ltd, that delivers training and consulting in all facets of special operations. He speaks at conferences across North America.
In 2024, Eric became assistant chief of training with the Kelowna Fire Department, where he is currently working on the design and construction of a new training campus.
Eric is a on two NFPA committees. For NFPA 1400, he helped develop standards on fire service training props and co-authored the new chapters on technical rescue and hazmat training.
