Since 2016, Fire Chief Dave Cochran has led the City of Reno Fire Department, one of the busiest fire departments per capita in the nation. Under his leadership, Reno Fire’s 306 personnel respond to more than 50,000 calls annually, delivering fire suppression, EMS, special operations, emergency management, and fire prevention services to over 270,000 residents and more than 3 million visitors each year.
Chief Cochran began his career with the Reno Fire Department in 1998 as a firefighter and rose through the ranks to become Fire Chief. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and earned his Juris Doctor from Hastings College of Law.
