Mary McGrath is the founding principal of Mary McGrath Architects, an Oakland, CA-based firm that specializes in the design of public safety facilities. McGrath’s 30 years of experience has included all phases of professional design services leading the design and construction of a wide variety of public safety projects. The practice specializes in fire stations (urban and rural), fire headquarters, emergency operations centers and training facilities. She has completed the design and construction of nearly 60 fire station projects and uses an “operations-based design” approach in the develop of each department’s unique solution. Mary McGrath Architects has the experience of developing over a dozen LEED-accredited fire station facilities at the Gold level. McGrath obtained her bachelor of architecture degree from Cal Poly State University at San Luis Obispo, CA, and has contributed to Firehouse Station Design Conferences since 2008.
