Since co-founding Shah Kawasaki Architect in 1999, Alan has designed 43 fire stations and prepared master plans to guide the development of four fire districts. His fire stations have received awards from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and Fire Chief magazine. He has been invited by the California Fire Chief Association, Sonoma County Fire Chief Association, and the City of San Francisco to participate in panel discussions and lead workshops in fire station design best practices.
