Scott Gregory is an accomplished technology executive with more than two decades of experience leading complex, high impact IT initiatives across government, academia, and the private sector. Scott was appointed Deputy Director of Technology for CAL FIRE in July 2020 where he plays a central role in shaping technology strategy and ensuring the effective deployment of critical systems. In this role, he oversees Information Technology Services and the Fire Innovation Unit, driving cohesive, forward looking solutions that strengthen statewide digital and emerging technology capabilities.
As a recognized leader in innovation, Scott has consistently delivered first of their kind programs that have modernized California government and expand public access to technology. As the first gubernatorially appointed Chief Innovation Officer in California, he pioneered the state’s first open data platform, launched its inaugural government innovation lab, and created the Innovation Academy to advance new problem solving approaches across the public sector. His earlier leadership as California’s State Geographic Information Officer and his work with Esri and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers further demonstrate his ability to transform complex technical environments into agile, data driven ecosystems. Scott holds a BA in Geography from Sacramento State University and an MBA from Regis University.
