CONFERENCE PROGRAM

8th Annual Station Design Conference Call for Papers - NOW OPEN!

Submit your proposal by November 19 to janet@firehouse.com

You are invited to submit a presentation proposal at the 8th Annual Firehouse Station Design Conference to be held May 24-26, 2022, Crowne Plaza, Rosemont, IL. The 2022 Station Design Conference will begin with morning general sessions each day and breakouts after the morning coffee break. In response to 2021 requests, 2022 Station Design Conference will target Fire, Law Enforcement, Shared Facilities, EMS and EOC facilities. All attendees may select onsite from any Track

We are looking for enthusiastic speakers with fresh perspectives related to design, construction, or all other aspects of public safety facilities. In 2022, a link to all PowerPoint presentations will be provided to qualified attendees the last day of the conference. You must be prepared to submit your PowerPoint presentation to the Conference Manager, no less than ten days prior to the conference.

The popularity of the Station Design Conferences is because we offer original presentations, offered in a timely fashion. (Note, if a presentation was previously presented at SDC or elsewhere, please change the title!) As a reminder, conference attendees are interested in educated information delivered without self-promotion. While the basics of design and construction are always a part of the program for first-time attendees, we include next-step or focused presentations.

Targeted Audience

The dynamics of Station Design Conference attendees is changing; besides fire and law enforcement chiefs and personnel, 2021 SDC included city and county administrators and architects who are planning facilities for fire, EMS, EOC, police and municipal departments.

We are seeking a few 30-minute programs, but primarily 45 to 60-minute presentations inclusive of a Q&A segment to complete the breakout sessions. In feedback from the 2021 Station Design Conference, attendees were specifically interested in presentations that include the participation of end-users (chiefs, project managers or city managers) who have been through the design and construction of a fire, law enforcement or public safety facility. Some examples of requested programs in the following areas:

  • Case studies from end users
  • EMS, EOC, or shared facilities
  • How to select an architect
  • How to fund, funding options and financing issues
  • Communications with the community
  • Site location & gaining community support
  •  Construction problems and solutions
  • LE Evidence rooms and storage
  • How to write an RFQ, RFP…
  • Affordable Volunteer stations
  • Technology and public safety facilities

In your proposal please include: company name, speaker(s) name(s), contact information, program title, brief program description, format of presentation, preferred amount of time and learning objectives.

Proposals for presentations must be emailed to:

Janet Wilmoth, Special Projects Director -

Janet@Firehouse.com by November 19th.

Please note that submission of a proposal does not guarantee participation in the 2022 Station Design Conference. The planning committee will review all submissions and make selections based on relevance and timeliness of the content.
